It is with immense pride and gratitude that I write to mark the centenary of Brindleford School. One hundred years ago, in 1926, our founders opened the doors of this school with a simple but ambitious vision: to provide an outstanding education that nurtures every child's potential. As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we can say with confidence that their vision has not only endured but flourished beyond anything they could have imagined.
Over the past century, Brindleford has educated thousands of pupils who have gone on to make their mark in every walk of life. From the earliest days in our original Victorian building to the modern, well-equipped campus we enjoy today, the school has continually evolved while staying true to its founding principles of academic rigour, pastoral care, and the development of character. Our archives, lovingly maintained by generations of staff, tell a rich story of growth, resilience, and community spirit — from the wartime years when the school welcomed evacuees, through the expansion of the 1960s and 70s, to the opening of our purpose-built Science and Technology Centre in 2015.
Our centenary celebrations will take place throughout the summer term, culminating in a grand Founders' Day celebration on Saturday 20th June. We are planning a programme of events including a commemorative service at St Andrew's Church, an exhibition of school memorabilia spanning the decades, performances by current pupils, and a garden party on the main lawn. We are delighted that several former headteachers and distinguished alumni have accepted invitations to attend, and we warmly invite all members of the Brindleford community — past and present — to join us.
As Headteacher, I am deeply honoured to lead this school into its second century. The values that have sustained Brindleford for one hundred years — kindness, curiosity, perseverance, and integrity — remain at the heart of everything we do. I would like to thank every member of our community, past and present, for their part in making Brindleford the exceptional school it is today. Here's to the next hundred years.
